London, United Kingdom - Design and construction of the UAE Private Departement Summer House - 1998

Built according to “domestic” neoclassicism, which had some success in England between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with examples of Adam, Soan and Nash, this summer annex in Tittenhurst Park (Berkshire) is located inside a fairytale park, immersed in a rarefied and suggestive atmosphere. Our studio, which oversaw the layout of the villa, had the opportunity to tackle an uncommon theme: combining classic stylistic elements and references to Arab taste with a more contemporary interpretative language, thanks to the contribution of the skill of Italian craftsmen who made the customised products.

The internal space, undivided throughout the living area, has undergone a functional distribution consisting of alignments and orientations according to a rigorous geometry, in line with the classic layout of the villa.
A large door with two doors in briar and gold leaf delimits the space between the entrance and the large semicircular hall. At the request of the client, the decoration is inspired by water and marine fauna. Taking a cue from the floral motifs of the Harun Welayat mosque in Iran, a free and symmetrical decoration is also created in order to follow the shapes of the door avoiding the figurative representation.
27 types of fabrics selected in Italy are used for furnishings and accessories.
