Terni, Italy - Renovation of the exterior of a office building (in partnership with C&W) - 2014

The target building complex is one of the largest in the city and is located just outside the historic centre.
It consists of a group of three buildings, one of which is 7 storeys above ground and two others of 3 storeys above ground.
The whole complex is connected by an open floor plan on pilotis, which makes it totally walkable and where there are, in addition to the entrance halls, commercial activities and green areas.
The project proposes a general architectural redevelopment by carrying out targeted interventions.
The most important intervention is the formal division of the complex into two distinct blocks through the insertion of the decisive red colour for the two lower bodies, which are thus visually distinct from the large slat on pilotis for which the original façade in cement panels and sand-coloured stone is maintained, cleaned up.
The colour chosen for the lower bodies is similar to that of the existing window and doorframes, which are thus less conspicuous and more contemporary.
The intervention on the open ground floor proposes a simple and recognisable order based on the original colours, plum and red, broken only by the entrance halls in different colours. Other details, such as the lighting, have been recovered without distorting the logic of the project.
