The Milan office of Clifford Chance, one of the world’s leading law firms, is located in Piazzetta M. Bossi in the financial heart of Milan and has two floors with a total area of 220 square metres.
The intervention mainly involved the redesign of the entrance on the ground floor and the reception on the 6th floor.
In the first case, the request was to provide access to the mailroom and two meeting rooms through a reception with turnstiles in a very small space. It was equally important to visually protect the lift landing and maintain the emergency exits and access to the single staircase.
The design solves the problem of reduced depth by inserting a linear reception desk with a glossy white glass wall behind it with a logo covering the lifts. This distribution creates two transverse paths to the entrance: one in front, free, and one behind, controlled.
The reception desk on the 6th floor, which is less complex and more spacious, provides the counter with a series of equipment (e.g. photocopiers) which it has been possible to conceal thanks to an interplay of volumes. The flooring and false ceiling delimit the lift landing, reception area and waiting area.
