Milan, Italy - Design of the west façade of the Oppenheim Immobilien building (in partnership with C&W) - 2004

Inserted in the PII of the Corsica/B. Sassi/Romagna area, the internal façade of the building on via B. Sassi had been “cut”, leaving an irregular and misaligned sectioned front. The intervention involved an artificial realignment, a non-carrier masking, made with thin concrete panels joined on a metal structure. The interesting technical aspect of the work was precisely represented by the use of this technology, among the first in Milan, and first on backgrounds of this dimension.
From an architectural point of view, full and empty spaces are determined by the dimensions of the volumes behind. The retreat of the windows and doors to the façade has made it possible to solve the problem of radiation from the west and to create a strong sense of depth, showing a glass building enclosed within a plastered concrete shell. The presence of parapets on the balconies has introduced an additional element of functional elegance.
