Bern, Switzerland - Interior design for a private apartment - 2013

In this flat on the top floor of a building in the centre of Bern, the problem to be solved was the temporary nature of its use. It was a matter of  making pleasantly habitable a space under a very sloping ceiling with the idea of buying furniture that could be reused elsewhere, all without touching a wall, hanging heavy objects, or implementing or modifying installations.
The proposal, which was then realised, involved the design of a low, continuous piece of modular furniture to be placed along the sloping ceiling. The depth of the top would keep people at a proper distance, and when seated, one would enjoy a long, articulated top for working in front of windows, placing the television or other objects. The lower part that supports the top is composed of open volumes in maple wood left unfinished, some doors allow objects to be protected. All modules are equal and stackable, allowing a bookcase to be freely reassembled in other places. Other furniture pieces, such as the Stabiles 690 table by Alfredo Aberli for Alias with Tindari seats, contribute to making this home pleasant and welcoming.
