Milan, Italy - New offices Hearst, Maciachini Center (in partnership with C&W) - 2012

Hearst’s new offices, apart from their considerable size (approx. 5600 square metres), had as a specific element the organisation and grouping of various newspapers with the required greater and lesser contiguity. The spaces are in fact on several floors and of different sizes.
A concept was developed and shared that would allow a delicate balance between relatively closed activities, such as the editorial office of a magazine with strong internal interchange, and the need to make as many services as possible common (e.g. meeting rooms, archives, copy areas)
Large bookcases alternating on the two fronts with passing or closed spaces create the right transparency/protection between the editorial offices and between them and the corridor. Books, files and issues of the various magazines complete the partitions in a useful way that is emotionally close to the work of the journalists.
